Occupiers Liability Act

The Occupiers Liability Act 1957 and its 1984 amendment requires all land and property owners to provide the same level of care to trespassers as to lawful visitors.

Whilst this can be quite straightforward when the building or land is regularly used or attended to, when it comes to unoccupied property this can be more difficult to achieve. Unoccupied property can include an unused piece of land, a disused shop or a partially built housing site.

We are now offering full site surveys addressing the applicable areas of legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act, Building Act, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, Control of Asbestos among others.

Following attendance we will issue a report highlighting the areas of legislation applicable and what actions should be taken to ensure the safety as far as is reasonably practicable of lawful and unlawful visitors.
