Fire Safety
The main fire legislation applying to business premises is The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 which places a duty on the ‘responsible person’ to carry out a fire risk assessment of their premises and record the findings. The Fire Safety Act 2021 further extended the order to include external walls including cladding, balconies, and external doors and windows within the findings.
In the workplace the ‘responsible person’ is the employer or any other person who may have control of the premises, eg the occupier or owner.
Safety360UK work with highly competent FRACS registered assessors who can complete your assessment directly or we can manage on your behalf.
Fire safety does not end with a completed fire risk assessment, however. Emergency lighting and call points must be tested, extinguishers inspected for damage including the pressure gauge and pin. Are fire doors obstructed, held open, operational, have damage and have suitable signage.
Evacuations should also be undertaken at suitable periods and recorded. Fire safety is a daily task and must be suitably addressed as part of the workings of the business.
We can help by advising you what and when inspections and checks should take place, in certain instances we are also able to provide this as a service.
